He also has participated in the Currey Ingram Reach Initiative (CIRI) program, which allows students to take online courses when they need more academic rigor or want to hone a specific skill that may not be offered at the school. This year, he is enrolled in Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations from One Schoolhouse for college credit. Preston has also taken AP Calculus AB and BC and AP Statistics.
He also has been selected for the College Board National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program for his remarkable academic achievements and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT.
“Currey Ingram is very proud of all Preston has accomplished while here. We know he will do amazingly well in college and in life,” said Jane Hannah, Upper School Division Head.
About the National Merit Scholarship Program
The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) – a test which serves as an initial screen of more than 1.5 million entrants each year – and by meeting published program entry/participation requirements.
To be considered for a National Merit® Scholarship, semifinalists must advance to Finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards set by the National Merit® Scholarship Program.
