  • How is the program different from other summer camps?

The Currey Ingram ADHD Summer Treatment Program is designed like a traditional summer camp with similar activities, but specific skills are being explicitly taught and developed throughout the entirety of the day. Campers will work on social skills, problem-solving, and self-regulation strategies within all camp activities, learning skills and resources that prove beneficial in both the home and school setting.
  • What is the cost and are there scholarships available?

The cost is $4,000, and a deposit of $400 is due upon acceptance into the program. There are limited financial aid opportunities available to those families who qualify. Additional funding may be available from TN Respite Coalition by contacting Jack Read at respite@tnrespite.org.
  • Why is the weekly parent meeting mandatory?

We believe building a constructive partnership with parents is crucial not only for campers to be successful within the STP, but also at home. During these meetings, we discuss techniques to strengthen the parent-child relationship, improve home compliance and behavior, and work with schools effectively to set your child up for success.
  • What can I expect at the end of the program?

While individual results may vary, we are confident that each camper will show noticeable improvement in at least one of the targeted areas of the program. At the end of the six weeks, families receive two detailed assessment summaries that include the growth that the student has made academically, socially, and emotionally, as well as strategies that would prove helpful if carried over into other settings.
  • Who are the staff and counselors?

Direct supervision for the camp is provided by highly trained Currey Ingram Academy faculty who have multiple years of experience within the program and in education.

The program maintains a minimum 1:3 (staff to child) ratio. There is a director and an assistant director on site each day. The staff is comprised mostly of undergraduate and graduate students within an applicable field, as well as certified teaching or clinical professions from around the country. The application process to work within the Summer Treatment Program is competitive, and we specifically recruit staff with strong academic backgrounds that have previous experience working with children. Each summer, new and returning staff attend multiple days of training prior to the start of camp in preparation for the days ahead.
  • What does a typical camp day look like?

Here is a sample schedule from previous years. Though the order of events may change, the elements stay the same for all groups.
